ABOUT THE SERIES
The Adventures of Penny and Poppy is a children's picture book series geared toward ages 3-8. Penny is a young girl with a very curious little dog named Poppy. Wherever Penny goes, Poppy goes....and wherever Poppy goes, Penny goes! They are two peas in a pod.
The first book, "Poppy Goes to Dance Class," was released on February 18, 2025. It has remained in the Top 5 of New Releases on Amazon in the Children's Dance category for almost the entire month, with most days being #1!
Join Penny and Poppy as they go on tons of adventures through life together. There will be many stories to come with this duo!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jenny O'Brien
Ever since I was a child, I've loved writing. It was something that always came easy to me as a child. As an adult, I continued that passion by receiving a Minor in Writing in College and writing for The Daily Vidette at Illinois State University. In the 20 years of my professional career post college, I have been published in numerous magazines and blogs.
The writing goal I had yet to accomplish was my dream of publishing a children's book. The last few years, I have taken my time to decide which direction I wanted to go with my first book. I had too many ideas! After contemplating over the three books I had started, the idea for a series about a little girl and her dog came to me.
The inspiration for Poppy came from my four legged best friend of 16 years, Molly. She unfortunately passed away right before the book was published. But she lived a life full of adventure and travel! She went everywhere with me. Her nickname was "Michigan Mol," as she always seemed so at peace there - just like me! Give me any beach long Lake Michigan and a book....and I am in my happy place. On the beach is actually where the final character names - Penny and Poppy - came to me for my series.
My mission is to create fun and engaging stories that inspire children to explore the world around them and use their imagination. I believe that reading is an essential part of every child's development, and I hope to encourage a lifelong love of books through my stories.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
Winda Mulyasari
This series was truly brought to life by the amazing illustrator, Winda Mulyasari. She is incredibly talented and perfectly captured the characters. Her illustrations create a brilliant, eye-catching story that keeps children captivated.
Winda lives in Indonesia and has been an illustrator for over 8 years. She specializes in whimsical illustrations for children's picture books. Her clear, crisp images are visually appealing and engaging for readers of all ages - both kids and adults will be captivated by them!
